Republicans To Obama: Cap The Well, Not the American People

President Barack Obama's BP Oil Spill Speech failed to win over many Twitter and Facebook users. Obama's BP Oil Spill Speech has also failed to win over Republicans/GOP/conservatives.
Nobody's going to be satisfied with anything until the well's capped," Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, a Republican, said on Fox News.

Instead of capping the well," he argued, "the President talked about putting a new cap-and-trade tax on the American people that's going to run up the cost of energy. 1

Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour isn't the only Republican talking about capping the well instead of capping the American people. Sarah Palin, during a June 15 O'Reilly Factor interview on FOX News with Bill O'Reilly, stated:
Well, we haven't had the assurance that president — we haven't had the assurance by the president that that has been his top priority. Instead, what his top priority is, Bill, is cap and tax. It is using this crisis, not letting it go to waste, but to use this crisis to increase the cost of energy.
Ex-governor of Alaska Sarah Palin, a leader who is very knowledgeable about oil problems, also told Bill O'Reilly what she did about oil when she was the governor of Alaska:
Now, as governor of Alaska, what I did in dealing with the oil companies, and I'll bet you, 75 percent of my time was being taken up by energy issues here in this state. I had to set up our Petroleum Systems Integrity Office so that we could be there on the front lines making sure what the oil companies were telling us was legit, when they were dealing with their corroded pipes that we found out and other lax maintenance issues.

Obama's BP Oil Spill Speech Fails To Impress Facebook and Twitter Users

President Barack Obama's BP oil spill speech failed to impress many Twitter and Facebook users. Researchers at Crimson Hexagon analyzed 83,000 Twitter tweets and Facebook comments, and here are the poll results:

1. 27% were not happy with President Barack Obama's BP oil spill plan

2. 11% were not happy with President Barack Obama's public speaking skills, claiming he used a lot of hand gestures and appeared to be reading from a teleprompter

3. 15% didn't like having to miss their favorite television shows

4. 14% said they didn't support President Barack Obama

5. 13% said they did support President Barack Obama
BP provisionally agreed the biggest compensation payment in corporate history, setting up a fund worth at least £13.5 billion to cover the damage caused by its leaking oil pipe in the Gulf of Mexico.

But the US president last night made it clear that BP's payments could be just the start, warning that the company could still face lawsuits from individuals and American states. 1

I see no point in writing any long commentary about these mostly very astute observations of 83,000 Facebook and Twitter users.

The 15% whose only complaint was that the speech prevented them from watching their favorite television shows, and the 13% who said they support President Barack Obama would be the exceptions and not the rule.

George W. Bush On Facebook -- Over 140,000 Fans On Day 9

I joined President George W. Bush's Facebook page earlier today. President Bush has already received thousands of positive comments since he first joined Facebook on June 2, and his Facebook page has grown to over 140,000 Facebook fans in just a little over one week.

President Bush is offering interesting posts on his Facebook wall, and I am looking forward to visiting George W. Bush's official Facebook page often. I also plan on sharing some of President Bush's posts on my Facebook wall from time to time, as he is being gracious enough to allow the "sharing" option on his Facebook wall.

I already shared some of President George W. Bush's offerings on my Facebook wall earlier today, such as information about First Lady Laura Bush's best-selling memoir, "Spoken from the Heart," the #1 bestseller on the "New York Times" Bestseller List for three weeks in a row; and a link to a short video of Presidents Bush's Inaugural Address [HD].

Helen Thomas Resigns After Saying Jews Should "Get The Hell Out Of Palestine"

Helen Thomas recently revealed her true anti-Semitic colors when she told a Jewish Rabbi that Jews should "get the hell out of Palestine" and move to Germany and Poland. The statement was shocking enough in itself, but it is even more unbelievable that she said these vile, anti-Semitic words unabashedly to a Jewish Rabbi, and that the words were spoken on the White House grounds.

Due to the shock wave her words created, and rightly so, Helen Thomas resigned from the White House press corps yesterday.
Thomas, 89, has been a fixture at the White House press conferences for half a century, for most of that time as a United Press International correspondent, but as an opinion columnist for Hearst since 2000. In that latter role, she used her ability to question the president as an opportunity to push her own views. While White House officials should expect tough questions from reporters, Thomas didn’t exactly challenge George W. Bush and his press aides; rather, she berated them — about war, Middle Eastern politics, and other subjects. 1
1 Helen Thomas: Bizarre end to a long career

Helen Thomas was being interviewed by Rabbi David F. Nesenoff when she told him what she really thinks about Jews and Israel. Rabbi Nesenoff has his own website. Visit Rabbi Nesenoff's website to read Helen Thomas Updates and view his YouTube Complete Version of the Helen Thomas interview.

I'm still trying to digest how a woman with such a long and distinctive career could have said that Jews should "get the hell out of Palestine" and move to Germany or Poland. To be so incredibly uncaring and insensitive to the fact that 6 million Jews were murdered by Hitler and the Nazis in what is known as The Holocaust, is, to me, incomprehensible.

Even in her official apology before resigning, she did not say anything about being sorry for what she said about Jews. I don't think her words fit into the definition of a true apology, and, even you disagee, that still would not have erased the uneasy feeling her words about Jews getting out of Palestine generated in many people. Here is Helen Thomas' apology:
In a written statement issued Friday, Thomas apologized, saying, “I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians.”
She said the comments “do not reflect” her “heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance.”
“May that day come soon,” she added. 2
Since Helen Thomas is now officially retired, maybe she should consider retiring to Poland. I hear there's a house for rent right next door to Auschwitz.

Bombs Kill 6 In Iraqi Capital of Baghdad, Including 4 Policemen

A car bomb driven by a suicide attacker exploded in the Iraqi Capital of Baghdad outside of a police station on Sunday.

One civilian, four policemen, and one other person were killed, and fifteen people were wounded in the attack.

Two Jihadist terrorists from New Jersey were arrested on Sunday morning at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City. The Jihadist terrorists were arrested before boarding separate planes heading for Somalia. The men were planning on joining a terrorist group when reaching their destination.

2 New Jersey Men Arrested In New York on Terrorism Charges

Jihadist Terrorist Report -- Breaking News: Mohamed Hamoud Alessa, 20, and Carlos Eduardo Almonte, 26, were arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City for conspiring to commit an act of international terrorism. Alessa and Almonte were on their way to board separate flights to Egypt, then on to Somalia, in order to join Al-Shabaab, a Jihadist terrorist group.

The men had been planning their trip to Somalia for months, saving thousands of dollars, and doing physical training. Both of them bragged about waging holy war against the United States of America.

Rush Limbaugh Married Descendant of President John Adams

Rush Limbaugh married Kathryn Rogers, a direct descendant of President John Adams, on Saturday, June 5. The wedding ceremony and reception took place in Palm Beach. Sir Elton John provided the musical entertainment to the tune of $1 million, courtesy of Rush Limbaugh. Sir Elton John performing at Rush Limbaugh's wedding is strange enough, but the fact that Rush Limbaugh managed to find a wife who is so strongly rooted in American History is almost stranger than fiction.

According to a recent Palm Beach Post article, Kathryn Rogers, Rush Limbaugh's new wife, is a direct descendant of American Founding Father John Adams. John Adams was the first Vice President (1789-1797) of the United States, and the Second President (1797-1801), of the United States.

So I suppose one could say that conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh is now an indirect descendant of John Adams. I think John Adams would have been proud to have Rush Limbaugh as part of his family. Rush Limbaugh and Kathryn Rogers might just be a match made in political heaven. It isn't every day that a famous conservative talk show hosts married a "daughter" of one of America's Founding Fathers.

Rush Limbaugh Marries Kathryn Rogers, Starring Sir Elton John

Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh married Kathryn Rogers today. According to an article posted on NYDailyNews.com, British superstar and composer Sir Elton John performed at Rush Limbaugh's wedding reception. The wedding was an extravagant Palm Beach Hawaiian-themed ceremony and reception.

In case you're wondering why Sir Elton John, an openly Gay man who, earlier this year announced that Jesus Christ was a "super-intelligent gay man," (yes, it's hard to believe, but this is what Sir Elton John said) agreed to perform at ultra-conservative Rush Limbaugh's wedding reception, there is one excellent reason. According to the New York Daily News article, Sir Elton John will receive $1 million for his performance at Rush Limbaugh's wedding reception.

As far as Rush Limbaugh is concerned, it seems to me that Rush Limbaugh must have the ability to separate the artist from the man. Rush Limbaugh obviously didn't allow his conservative viewpoints to get in the way when it involved having a talented person like Sir Elton John perform at his wedding reception. This only proves that Rush Limbaugh, contrary to what liberals think, is more than capable of being open-minded and nonjudgemental.

According to a recent Palm Beach Post article, Rush Limbaugh's new bride, Kathryn Rogers, is a direct descendant of American Founding Father John Adams. John Adams was the first Vice President (1789-1797), and the Second President (1797-1801), of the United States.

Congratulations, Rush Limbaugh. I hope you and your new wife Kathryn will be very happy.

McDonalds Recalls 12 Million Cadmium-Tainted Shrek Glasses

McDonalds recalls 12 million Shrek drinking glasses because traces of Cadmium, a toxic metal, were found in the painted design. Shrek Forever After, the 4th Shrek movie, will not end happily ever after due to McDonalds recall of 12 million Shrek drinking glasses. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said the painted design on the Shrek glasses sold by McDonalds were made by ARC International in Millville, New Jersey. No deaths or injuries have been reported.
The sale of the 16-ounce glasses was part of the promotional campaign for the movie "Shrek Forever After," which was produced by DreamWorks Animation and released by Viacom Inc's Paramount Pictures.

The glasses came in four designs with characters from the film: Shrek, Fiona, Puss in Boots and Donkey.

Shrek, the fourth movie in the series about the lovable green ogre's adventures in his fairy tale land, opened May 21 and is currently the most popular movie in North America, having grossed almost $150 million through the end of May. 1
1 McDonald's recalls 12 million Shrek drinking glasses

Tom Reed, vice president of human resources at Arc International’s plant in Millville, says the company received a copy of a McDonald’s memo on the recall of 12 million glasses but has not heard anything else.

Reed would not say where the paint was made or whether it’s used in Arc’s other products. Arc is based in France and owns the Pyrex brand of cookware in Europe. 2
2 NJ factory that makes ‘Shrek’ drinking glasses says it’s looking into recall over cadmium

Conservative Wordsmith ™ Commentary: The Shrek Forever After drinking glasses were made in New Jersey, which is in America. The state of New Jersey is not located in China. Does this mean China is off the hook for this recall? Maybe not.

I must admit my initial thought, after reading that the drinking glasses were made in New Jersey, was "But where did the paint come from?" After doing more research, I discovered the article (see above) which mentions that Tom Reed, vice president of human resources at Arc International’s plant in Millville, New Jersey did not disclose where the paint was made.

Even though Arc is "based" in France, once again, this doesn't mean ingredients, like paint, used by Arc are from France.

Mr. Reed, I want to know the truth. Where was the Cadmium-tainted paint made? Was the paint used in the Shrek Forever After drinking glasses made in China? Can you please tell me?

McDonalds is an American company, and American children could have been at risk. Now don't get me wrong. I don't want to start yet another Conspiracy Theory. But I really would like to know where that paint was made, Mr. Reed.

Al and Tipper Gore: 40 Years Of Marriage, Sadly, Is Long Enough

I was shocked to learn that former Vice President Al Gore and his wife Tipper Gore, after 40 years of marriage, are going to separate. According to The Los Angeles Times, Politico broke the story earlier today.
In an ' Email from Al and Tipper Gore,' the couple said: 'We are announcing today that after a great deal of thought and discussion, we have decided to separate'.
'This is very much a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration. We ask for respect for our privacy and that of our family, and we do not intend to comment further.'

The e-mail was obtained by POLITICO and confirmed by Kalee Kreider of the office of Al and Tipper Gore. Kreider said there would be no further comment.

I am not an Al Gore fan. I think Al Gore contributes more to global warming than he prevents. I don't think Al Gore should have won the Nobel Peace Prize. But Tipper Gore seems to me to be a decent person, and a good wife.

I was under the impression that Al and Tipper Gore had an excellent marriage, and I'm sure many people thought likewise. I am saddened by the news that Al Gore and Tipper Gore are separating. Being married for 40 years is an accomplishment in this day and age when divorce is rampant. I wish Al and Tipper Gore the best of luck.
