Two Kinds of Men: Hero and Anti-Hero

Are you the kind of man who is a hero, or are you an anti-hero? A man needs to decide at some point in his life what kind of man he is going to be, either a hero or an anti-hero, and his actions should reflect this important decision. Heroes are self-confident, but seek God's face when making important decisions.

What does it mean to seek God's face? This means you pray and ask God for guidance, even though the answer might not be the one you expect. For example, if you are thinking about cheating on your wife, God is not going to approve of your actions, even if your wife happens to be far less than perfect.

Jack Bauer, the character in Fox TV's now defunct 24 series, is actually both a hero and an anti-hero, depending upon the situation at hand. On the one hand, Jack Bauer is a hero, an anti-terrorist who is not afraid to be politically incorrect, but on the other hand, Jack Bauer is also an ex-heroin addict who ended up being a disappointing anti-hero, actually a serial killer, during 24's last remaining episodes.

Heroes practice Agape love, which is a special kind of love that places the welfare of others above his own. In other words, a hero is completely unselfish, and has enough faith in God, when faced with either a serious temptation, or a difficult decision, to do the right thing. What difference does it make if you do the right thing? Do your actions matter that much? Yes, your actions do indeed count more than you might realize. Everything you do affects those you care about, and can even affect total strangers.

You have the power to set either a good or bad example to those around you, whether in person or online. If you are an online author with your own blog, a freelance writer, or are involved in forums and online social networking sites on the Internet, you have the capability and responsibility of setting a good example to those who read your words.

Heroes are brave men who risk their lives to save others. A few examples of everyday American heroes range from your neighborhood policemen and firemen to soldiers, marines, and all those courageous men who protect and defend all Americans and their country, the United States of America.

Do you want people who read what you write to be positively or negatively affected? Do you want your wife, relatives, friends, and Internet buddies to benefit in a good way from the words you write? If you do, choose what kind of man you are: hero or anti-hero.

24 Hero Jack Bauer Is Alive At End of 24's Final Episode

Jack Bauer (actor Kiefer Sutherland) is still alive as FOX TV 24's Final Episode revealed on Monday night, May 24, 2010. During 24's last 2 hours of Season 8 (and also 24's final episode) President Allison Taylor realizes that she must try to save Jack Bauer.

Jack Bauer almost assassinates two persons: former U.S. President Charles Logan and Yuri Suvarov, President of the Russian Federation. But Jack's CTU friend Chloe O'Brian (a consistently favorite character on 24 portrayed by actress Mary Lynn Rajskub) convinces Jack not to kill them. Jack didn't have to kill Charles Logan because Charles Logan ends up killing himself before the final 2 hours of 24 comes to an end.

Once again, the good news is that Jack Bauer is still alive at the end of 24, Season 8. I write this with a bit of hesitancy due to the fact that Jack Bauer went on a murdering spree during the past few episodes of 24. But, having been a fan of 24 since the first episode, I have forgiven Jack. After all, it's not Jack Bauer's fault that the now-liberal writers of 24 decided to turn him into a somewhat different person.

If there is a 24 movie, and the fact that Jack Bauer is still alive could mean there might be a film, perhaps the writers will rewrite Jack Bauer's character into the American hero fans like myself grew to love and appreciate. A 24 movie with an emphasis on the Jack Bauer fans recognize and remember will surely be a huge box office hit, and a special treat for 24 fans worldwide.

24: Allison Taylor's Conservative Conscience Admits All On Final Episode

The final episode of FOX TV's 24 on Monday night, May 24, 2010 ended with a conservative twist as President Allison Taylor (portrayed by actress Cherry Jones) makes a decision to make public her lies, and the crimes that had been committed by herself and others. President Allison Taylor also decides to help Jack Bauer, whom she had previously turned against.

President Allison Taylor goes on camera to admit wrongdoings to America and the world; to reveal to all that lies and crimes had been committed. President Allison Taylor also indicates her willingness to receive whatever punishment she deserves.

In other words, President Allison Taylor finally comes to her conservative senses and reverts to her old accountable self, the person she used to be before the completely unethical former President Charles Logan re-entered politics again in 24's Season 8.

By the way, Charles Logan is now officially among the not-so-dearly departed. See my upcoming Jack Bauer post.

Kiefer Sutherland Almost Cried During Wrapup Of 24's Final Episode

I caught actor Kiefer Sutherland (Jack Bauer on FOX TV's 24) on NBC's Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night. Kiefer Sutherland was honest, about his emotional response to the filming of the final two hours of 24. Kiefer said that even though the cast knew 24 was going to end six months ago, he still couldn't help feeling emotional on the last day the crew was filming the popular hit show.

Kiefer Sutherland said he had to hold his head down. I think he meant either in order to keep from crying, or in order to hide his tears, but he didn't explain that part. Kiefer Sutherland didn't mention the fact that several blogs, including Conservative Wordsmith, have recently published posts about Jack Bauer's shocking recent change of character into what seems to be a maniacal serial killer. Kiefer also didn't mention anything at all about a new 24 movie in the works, so I don't know if there really is going to be a 24 movie or if this is just a rumor.

I hope the now liberal writers of 24 don't decide to have Jack Bauer officially convert to the Muslim religion during the last episode, or decide to write some kind of ridiculous plot twist in which it turns out that Jack Bauer has been a secret terrorist all along. I hardly believe the writers will be able to come up with something that unbelievable, but, in light of what is happening recently on 24, one never knows. I am still hoping that the final two hours of 24 will be redemptive for Jack Bauer. Even so, Jack Bauer is certainly not innocent of any wrong doings of late, so your guess as to how 24 will end is as good as mine.

I miss the old Jack Bauer. I want the old Jack Bauer back. But, alas, that wish will not be granted, as 24 is quickly approaching the final two hours of the final series, Season 8 , on Monday night, May 24, 2010.

Jack Bauer Becomes Serial Killer on 24 As Liberal Writers Lose All Creativity

Jack Bauer, the former American hero and anti-terrorist on the Fox TV hit 24, has now apparently become somewhat of a serial killer and serious anti-hero. I have been a fan of 24, and of Jack Bauer's, since Day 1, and I must tell you how disappointed I am in the way in which writers of 24 have butchered (no pun intended) the character of Jack Bauer.

What are the not-so-creative minds behind 24 thinking? Do they honestly think Jack Bauer fans are enjoying watching him more or less going berserk on us, and killing just about anyone in sight? Not only that, but Jack Bauer is killing people in extremely gruesome and violent ways. All of these murders presumably stem from the loss of his love, Renee Walker, who was brutally shot down a few episodes ago. I frankly find this reasoning hard to believe, and the change in Jack Bauer's character is difficult to accept.

With only 2 hours remaining until 24 finally ends forever (at least on television, because there might be a 24 movie in the works), I can't believe I'm writing these words, but the fact is that I am almost glad the show is ending. Fans can thank the leftist liberals who took over the production of 24 after conservative Joel Surnow, one of the original creators of 24, quit a while back. When Joel Surnow was running the show, the basic plot had a much more conservative bent from week to week, with a heavy emphasis on fanatical Muslim terrorists whose purpose in living was to destroy America. There were liberal slips once in a while, but now the liberal slips have become fatal errors, and it is my belief that this is why 24 is no longer going to be seen on television after the show ends next week.

I am sad that Kiefer Sutherland agreed to the character change, especially since Kiefer Sutherland might have had a say about this, since he is one of the producers of 24. Perhaps my time can soon be spent more wisely in the reading of a good Jane Austen book on Monday nights. In reading the writings of Jane Austen, it is automatically a sure thing that I will learn something. At least I won't get a dose of "let's see how nauseated we can make our viewers before the show ends."

Am I still planning on watching the final two hours of 24 next week? Yes. I do want to know how the series ends, and, in spite of my bitter disappointment in Jack Bauer, I still hope for his redemption.

Terrorism Is A Real Word and Politically Correct Politicians Don't Own It

Why I am not afraid to use the words "ISLAMIC JIHADIST (JIHAD) TERRORISTS." To not use the word "terrorists" would be to go against everything I believe in. There is no other suitable word. The ultra liberal politically correct "in" crowd prefers to use the words "man-caused disasters" instead of the correct word, "terrorism."

This will never suffice, because all true AMERICAN PATRIOTS know that the REAL WORD is "TERRORISM," "TERRORISTS," and "ISLAMIC JIHADIST (JIHAD) TERRORISTS." If using these words makes you uncomfortable, then perhaps you ought to ask yourself why you have sympathy for those Muslim Jihad fanatics who murder and behead other human beings in the name of their so-called god, Allah?

Why I am not afraid to write or say Politically Incorrect words: I don't believe politically incorrect speech should include racist, anti-Semitic, anti-White, anti-Black, anti-Christian, anti-Mormon or anti-Anybody words or phrases. Politically incorrect words come into play when the attempt is made to verbally transform the concept of evilness (politically correct) into something not so evil, or even good (politically incorrect). When this attempt is successful, then the time to be politically incorrect has arrived.

Saying or writing the words "Jihad," "Jihadist," "terrorists," "terrorism," "Muslim fanatics," and "Islamic fanatics" is acceptable, even though these words are considered to be politically incorrect by leftist liberals, most of whom hate Israelis and support Palestinians.

Renee Walker Mercilessly Murdered During Season 8 of 24

Renee Walker is dead. Renee Walker has been mercilessly murdered -- shot through a window by a terrorist. Annie Wersching, the actress who portrayed Renee Walker on Fox TV's "24," was a breath of fresh air during the final season, Season 8, of "24."

I don't understand why the writers of "24" needed to kill off Renee Walker. I was actually hoping Jack Bauer (actor Kiefer Sutherland) and Renee Walker would get married during the final episode of "24." There are only six hours of air time remaining for "24" and Jack Bauer until the Fox TV hit show permanently goes off the air.

What will end up happening to Jack Bauer in the final moments of "24?" That is the question "24" fans want to know. I hope the liberal writers of "24" don't turn Jack Bauer into anything less than the American hero fans have grown to love.

Jack Bauer "24" Special On Fox TV Monday April 5 8 -10 PM ET/PT

Jack Bauer will be on Fox TV's "24" for an extra hour tonight. I can hardly wait to see what Jack Bauer will be up to on this 2-hour Fox TV 24 Special, which begins at 8 PM and ends at 10 PM ET/PT. After tonight, there will only be 8 hours left, and Jack Bauer fans (including Conservative Wordsmith Susan Baldwin) will no longer be able to look forward to seeing Jack every Monday night.

If you want to see a summary of tonight's show ahead of time, click on the above "24" link, then click on the Monday night TV Schedule link, and a box will pop up giving a summary of tonight's show. A convenient list of the main characters' and actors' names in the "24" Cast and in Monday night's Guest Cast are included. I can tell you this: According to the Fox summary of tonight's "24" 2-hour Special, there will be betrayals and the biggest plot twist that ever got twisted on "24."

Also worth mentioning is: The popular Fox TV show "House" will not be aired tonight due to the extra hour of "24" taking up the "House" time slot.

24 Canceled: Kiefer Sutherland Breathed Life Into 24 Hero Jack Bauer

"24" is canceled. It's official. Now Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) can't save the world, nor can he save America from Jihadist terrorists. Jack Bauer never really could save anyone because Jack Bauer isn't a real person.

Nevertheless, Jack Bauer has seemed like a real friend, political ally, and hero to fans all over the world, both conservatives and liberals, since 2001, shortly after the horrible events of 9/11. It was reported a few seasons ago that Conservative Talk Show Host Rush Limbaugh flew to the Los Angeles, CA area to visit the "24" behind-the-scenes set because he was such an enthusiastic fan.

I will sorely miss Jack Bauer. "24" is one of the few television shows I watch, and I have looked forward to the little escape mechanism "24" provided, with the help of Kiefer Sutherland. Kiefer Sutherland is the actor who breathed life into Jack Bauer, and made him seem like a real human being.

"24" has, sadly, been canceled. Soon Jack Bauer will fade into the memories of his fans. "24" will be ending after 10 more hours of episodes. The announcement was made at the end of Monday night's show (March 29). There will be a special 2-hour event of "24" airing on Fox on Monday, April 5, beginning at 8 PM in Los Angeles, CA.

Why 24 and Jack Bauer Are Leaving Fox TV: A Conservative Analysis Of 24

Jack Bauer, Anti-terrorist (actor Kiefer Sutherland) has 10 remaining hours to save America from terrorists and regain his conservative political stature. Jack Bauer lost some of his conservative convictions when he made a death-bed confession to a Muslim Imam during the final episode of Season 7.

It's official. "24" has been canceled, and will be ending after 10 more hours of episodes. The announcement was made at the end of Monday night's show (March 29). CONSERVATIVE WORDSMITH.COM believes there are several reasons why "24" will no longer be on the air.

The original U.S. President in Season 1, President David Palmer, portrayed by actor Dennis Haysbert, should never have been assasinated in the first place, because he was the hit show's best president.

The writers should never have changed Jack Bauer, portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland, (who won a Best Actor Emmy) from an anti-Islamic Jihadist terrorist hero to a heroin addict. As soon as the writers of "24" realized this was a big mistake, they had Jack Bauer recover from the heroin addiction in Season 3. I still forgave Jack back then because his character was so intriguing.

The writers never should have changed Jean Smart's ultra-conservative character Martha Logan, patriotic and heroic first lady in Season 5, into a raving lunatic duriing a brief appearance in a Season 6 episode. Also, "24" producers never should have eliminated Martha Logan from the series, as actress Jean Smart, in my opinion, was one of the best contributors to the entire "24" series. * See Related Link below.

Similarly, "24" never should have turned Tony Almeida, portrayed by actor Carlos Bernard, from a hero into a villain. Even though Carlos Bernard's acting was phenomenal, this disturbing liberal pattern of "24" turning a conservative hero into a character-flawed heroin addict, another conservative hero into a liberal villain, or an incredibly brave, strong, and partriotic first lady into an insane first lady was never a good move, because this is not what the "24" viewing audience wanted to watch.

There are other reasons why I think "24" is ending, such as the Writers Guild of America Writers' Strike, which caused the series to be off the air for a year, and original creator and producer, outspoken political conservative Joel Surnow, unexpectedly deciding to quit "24" early in 2008. * See Related Links below.

It was only after conservative Joel Surnow left "24" that the show really started to go down hill. Liberals took over and the writers made a huge shift from mostly conservative and politically incorrect politics to mostly liberal and politically correct politics.

Will I miss Jack Bauer? Yes. Was Annie Wersching as Renee Walker a great addition to Season 8? Yes. Will Jack Bauer and Renee Walker end up getting married in the final episode? Maybe.

In the final analysis, should "24" be ending in 2010? Perhaps the show could have remained on television for yet another season, or more seasons, if Jack Bauer had not confessed to a Muslim Imam in Season 7, but it's difficult to know this for certain. In any case, my weekly habit of meeting Jack Bauer in my living room via my televison set will be ending after 10 more hours of "24" episodes.

HAMAS SON Mosab Hassan Yousef: "Biggest Terrorist Is The God Of The Quran"

Mosab Hassan Yousef, son of a Hamas founder, and a man who helped Israel's security forces murder and arrest members of the Islamic Jihadist Terrorist group Hamas, told the Associated Press, during a 50-minute interview on Wednesday, March 3, the Muslim religion "is not a religion of peace." 1

"In his memoir, Yousef, the 32-year-old son of a Hamas founder, claims he was one of the Shin Bet security agency's best assets and was dubbed The Green Prince, a reference to his Hamas pedigree and the Islamists' signature green color." 1

"Sheik Hassan Yousef said in a letter that his family had renounced 'the one who was once our eldest son, who is called Mosab.'" 1

"The son 'disbelieved in God' and 'collaborated with our enemies,' said the father, who's serving a six-year term in an Israeli prison." 1

It is worth mentioning that, in the interim, Yousef converted to Christianity. "Yousef said he started working with the Shin Bet after he was arrested and witnessed Hamas brutalities inside prison. When he was released in 1997, he started meeting with the Shin Bet and gravitating toward Christianity." 1

"And he hurled his most inflammatory comments at Islam, which he called a religion that teaches people to kill." 1

"In referring to the Muslim religion, or religion of Islam, Yousef said, 'It is not a religion of peace,' said Yousef, who converted to Christianity. 'The biggest terrorist is the God of the Quran. I know this is very dangerous and this will offend many people. The more you follow the steps of the prophet of Islam and the God of Islam, the more you get close to being a terrorist.'" 1

"'The God of Quran is trying to unskin Muslims from their humanity,' he said, later adding, 'Muslims are good people. But their God is absolutely bad.'"

According to the Associated Press, Yousef's life is now in danger because of his speaking out against Hamas and the Muslim religion. But Yousef has a story to tell, and has written, and newly published, a book entitled "Son of Hamas." Yousef said that if Hamas kills him, they will be responsible for his blood. 1

1 AP Interview: Hamas spy unafraid, criticizes Islam

AUTHOR'S COMMENTARY: I find it absolutely fascinating that this young 32-year old man, raised in the religion of Islam by a founder of the Islamic Jihadist "Terrorist" group Hamas (or, if you are politically correct, which I am not, Islamic "Militant" Group Hamas) is willing to risk his life to tell the world the truth about the inherrent violence and evilness of the Muslim religion, and of the Muslim "god" of the Koran or Quran. (I purposely did not capitalize the word "god," in referring to "Allah", the Muslim religion's conception of the word.)

If you think Allah, the "god" of the Quran, is the same "God" of the Holy Bible, as in the God of Judaism and Christianity, think again. In fact, if you think Allah is god at all, think twice.

The Muslim Terrorist tactic of beheading "infidels" while, at the same time, shouting in Arabic "Allah is great! There is no god but Allah," leads any reasonable mind to the correct conclusion that Allah is not god. But then there are many people, expecially those on the politically correct liberal political spectrum, who do not have reasonable minds.

Jack Bauer Is Not Real, But Jack Bauer Is A Real Man

We all know that Jack Bauer is not a real person, and that actor Kiefer Sutherland is not Jack Bauer. So why is it that so many people react to Fox TV 24's Jack Bauer as though he is real?

The fact is that Jack Bauer seems very real because he represents the real man syndrome. Kiefer Sutherland protrays Jack Bauer  in the same venue that Clint Eastwood, James Dean, and Clark Gable portrayed their heroic male characters. People, both men and women, evidently miss seeing more men acting like men on TV and in movies.

People don't only want to watch Jack Bauer -- they want to think with him, and try to figure out what Jack would do, because Jack often (although not always) does the right thing. And the right thing is not always politically correct when it comes to Jack Bauer's interrogation of Muslim Jihadist terrorists and other menaces to society.

Jack Bauer now has an equal, former FBI agent Renee Walker, portrayed by Annie Wershing. Renee Walker started outas being rather timid in 24's Season 7, but, due to Jack Bauer's influence, has now graduated to the school of extreme politcal incorrectness, and people love it. Would any of this be fun and addicting if everyone on 24 always did the politically correct thing? We all know the answer to this one is a big fat "NO."

Renee Walker: Female Jack Bauer Intrigues 24 Fans

Renee Walker (Annie Wersching) is the former FBI Agent in 24's Season 7, and, should Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) ever leave the show, it is my belief that Renee Walker would be an excellent replacement for Jack Bauer.

That being said, the reality is that not having Jack Bauer on 24 would be equal to eating bread without butter, only worse! One thing for sure is that Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) and Renee Walker (Annie Wersching) team up again for exciting viewing in 24: Season 8

Evidently Jack Bauer did not actually convert to the Muslim religion, contrary to what many fans thought might be a possibility in 24: Season 7. *See My Related Posts below. Muslim Jihadist terrorist issues are being played out once more in the first 4 hours of 24: Season 8.

24 Season 8 Finds Jack Bauer Alive And NOT A Muslim

24 Season 8: The good news is that Jack Bauer is alive and NOT a Muslim. Yes, Jack Bauer is alive and well on Fox TV's 24, Season 8. Kiefer Sutherland, aka Jack Bauer on the popular Fox TV series, was a guest on ABC's 'Live with Regis and Kelly Show' on Thursday, January 14.

I happened to catch the interview with Kiefer Sutherland. Kiefer Sutherland, who portrays Jack Bauer on Fox TV's 24 series, said that he is very excited about Season 8.

Kiefer Sutherland mentioned that in 24 Season 8 Jack Bauer now has something to go home to, because Jack Bauer, now a grandfather, wants to go back home to be with his daughter Kim, and his grandchild.

Kiefer Sutherland also mentioned that Jack Bauer will go into "dark places" in Season 8, so 24 fans might just get a dose of what they have been waiting for, as 24's Season Premier starts tonight, Sunday January 17th, at 9/8c.

24 Season 8 also begins in the Middle East. I hope this means that 24 writers, having made a serious blunder at the end of Season 7, when they had Jack Bauer confessing to a Muslim Imam on his supposed deathbed, have now rectified that mistake.

I want to see Jack Bauer in 24 Season 8, the CTU hero and defender of American soil, who will do whatever it takes to destroy terrorist plots and terrorism, especially those planned by Muslim Jihadist terrorists.

Yes, I want to see the politically incorrect Jack Bauer tracking down evil Muslim Jihadist terrorists. I don't want to see Jack Bauer confessing to a Muslim Imam, and neither do a lot of devoted 24 fans.

24 fans all over the world are anticipating Season 8 in the hopes that it will give them what they want: the real Jack Bauer!

Will 24 Hero Jack Bauer Be A Muslim Believer In Season 8?

Will Jack Bauer, the hero portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland in Fox TV's 24 series, be a Muslim believer in 2010's Season 8? In May of 2009, I wrote a post entitled 24 Saga Of Jack Bauer's Confession to a Muslim Imam Continues. The following quotation is an excerpt:

Earlier this morning, I wrote a post about Kiefer Sutherland's character, Jack Bauer, as he was portrayed on Monday night's final episode of 24. I have received many hits on my site since then. Obviously depicting Jack Bauer as making his final deathbed confession to a Muslin imam has struck a strong chord with many 24 fans.

I have been an avid fan and follower of 24 since Day 1, and I don't recall Jack Bauer's religion having ever been mentioned on any of the previous episodes. Jack Bauer, having been a crusader, in a manner of speaking, against terrorism in past episodes, Muslim Jihadist terrorism in particular, has never shown any religious interest in becoming a Muslim.

Even though the final episode of 24's Season depicted the dying Jack Bauer confessing to a Muslim imam, I don't believe that Jack Bauer will actually be a Muslim in Season 8. Whether Jack Bauer will or will not be a Muslim when Season 8 premiers in January of 2010 depends, of course, upon whether Jack Bauer is still alive.

I'm guessing that the writers of 24 have by now realized the mistake they made, in the first place, by writing the now infamous Jack Bauer/Muslim imam deathbed scene.   They have probably figured out a miraculous, never before heard of, scientific discovery that has revived Jack Bauer  from the nearly departed.

My best guess is that there will be no follow-up on 24's Season 8 of the Jack Bauer/Muslim imam deathbed confession scene at all. The writers, in my opinion, will simply pretend that the Muslim imam scene in the final episode of 24's Season 7 never existed, and hope that the many angry 24 fans will be a forgiving TV audience.

24's 7th Season: Jack Bauer's Muslim Imam Confession Continues To Perplex Fans Worldwide

Kiefer Sutherland's portrayal of Jack Bauer's deathbed confession to a Muslim imam on Fox TV's 24, Season 7, Monday night, has evidently created a huge controversy for puzzled fans.

On Tuesday, I wrote and published several posts about 24 character Jack Bauer's sudden interest in, and possible conversion, to the Islam religion. Both of my sites (http://www.conservativewordsmith.com/ and http://conservativewordsmith.townhall.com/) received many visitors from all over the world. Perplexed 24 fans continue to visit my sites today.

Jack Bauer has been merciless to terrorists of any kind, especially fanatical Muslim Jihadist terrorists, in many of the past episodes during previous seasons of 24. Granted, the Muslim imam is definitely not a terrorist of any kind, but Jack's sudden interest in choosing to speak to a Muslim imam, as a spiritual advisor, during his possible last days on earth, is perplexing to many 24 fans.

Thanks to one of my erudite commentators, I have been informed that the extremely conservative Joel Surnow, one of the original creators and a major producer of 24, resigned in 2008. I had not previously been aware of this. I checked it out, and here is an excerpt from ZAP2it regarding this fact:

"Joel Surnow, a co-creator of "24," is leaving the show to pursue other projects.Surnow had been thinking about leaving the FOX show for a while, and during the writers' strike he came to a firm decision. His departure is effective immediately, meaning he won't be part of the 16 episodes yet to be filmed for the show's seventh season, the showbiz trade papers report." 1

According to an an article published in the Hollywood Reporter, and cited in a libertas, A FORUM FOR CONSERVATIVE THOUGHT ON FILM post entitled 'Joel Surnow Exits “24″, "'The openly conservative Surnow, who jokingly labeled himself a 'right-wing nut job,' has been the most visible of the masterminds behind '24.'He hasn’t shied from speaking his mind and made headlines in November when he said: 'Are we nuts thinking Hillary Clinton could be president of this country? Honest to God, just stand back and think about it.' Ironically, the upcoming seventh season of '24,' slated to debut in January 2009, features the first female U.S. president, played by Cherry Jones.'"

Joel Surnow's resignation from 24 is one plausible explanation for the mystery of Jack Bauer's deathbed confession to a Muslim imam. I emphasize the word one, because I believe there is more to it than the resignation of Joel Surnow.

However, Mr. Surnow's resignation certainly is an important factor in understanding Season 7's overly liberal slant, not only on the Muslim issue, but other issues also, such as a female president who is completely against torture of any kind, including that of terrorists.

24 Sparks Jack Bauer/Muslim Imam Controversy In Monday's Episode

In the history of Fox TV's 24 series, the 7th Season, and final episode, depicting Jack Bauer's deathbed confession with a Muslim imam has sparked possibly the biggest controversy since the show first started.

I maintain 2 sites, this one (www.conservativewordsmith.com), and my Townhall.com blog (http://conservativewordsmith.townhall.com). Both sites have been receiving many visitors today upon publishing my initial published post earlier, "24 Hero Jack Bauer Confesses To Muslim Imam On Deathbed." *See My Related Posts below.

What exactly is a Muslim imam? According to Wikipedia, "An imam (Arabic: إمام plural ائمة A'immah‎, Persian: امام) is an Islamic leadership position. Often the leader of a mosque and the community."

Answers.com states that a imam is

"In law and theology, the caliph who is successor to Muhammad as the lawful temporal leader of the Islamic community.
The male prayer leader in a mosque.
The Muslim worshiper who leads the recitation of prayer when two or more worshipers are present."

24 Saga Of Jack Bauer's Confession to a Muslim Imam Continues

It is puzzling as to why the writers/producers (bear in mind that Kiefer Sutherland is one of the producers of 24) chose to do this. Are they that anxious to make fans of the Muslim population at large? Or are they now being overly zealous in their efforts to try to erase the memories in the minds of those protesting Muslims who were offended in the early days of the series, when the main focus of the show was to catch evil Muslim Jihadist terrorists, and even torture them?

Since I am not one of the writers or producers of 24, I can't claim to know the definitive answer to this perplexing question. However, I do believe that this tactic, that is to say, Jack Bauer's deathbed confession to the spiritual Muslim imam, has not set well with the general population of avid 24 fans. It is not at all in character with Jack Bauer's past actions, and it really makes no sense at all.

And the greater question is in the minds of many 24 fans: Is Jack Bauer now actually a Muslim? Did he convert to Islam? Is he going to convert to Islam if he doesn't die? Or did he just not have any religious ties at all to any religion, and just happened to decide, at the last moment of his possible death, to request a visitation from a representative of a religion to which he has previously shown absolutely no interest whatsoever?

Of course, there is one other possibility: maybe Jack Bauer's body and brain have been so contaminated by exposure to dangerous substances (this happened in another 24 episode during Season 7), that he is now totally insane. Somehow, though, I don't think this is the answer. What appeared to be a conservative show with sometimes liberal slants has now taken a turn into a previously undiscovered dimension. Maybe the 8th season of 24 should even have a new name: The Twilight 24.
